The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MHUA) released the draft Model Tenancy Act, 2019 on July 10, 2019, for public viewing and comment. The Act is intended to replace the Rent Control Act, 1958 and aims at bringing about a balance of interests between tenants and landlords. The draft Model Tenancy Act, 2019 is an effort to codify the law on tenancy. The book gives an insight into the provisions contained in the model law. It also presents an overview of MTA and the procedures contained in it.
